Fear of Public Speaking

Six years ago when my biggest fear was public speaking I was invited to speak at the 34th annual Women of the year luncheon at Myer Mural hall in front of the Governor General!

I was petrified and wanted to say no.

I said Yes.

As it got closer I wanted to cancel. I even made my body almost lose my voice!

But, I did it and mumbled through.

I shared my story about my childhood and at times I stuffed up the words and got too emotional.

I was embarrassed that I was so unprofessional in front of the 300 or so of societies best.

I got a standing ovation.

It was the most proud of myself I’ve ever been.

I said yes (even though my whole mind and body was screaming NO) because my heart and soul were saying YES Ramona, It’s time.

Saying yes changed-my-life.

I have no fear of Public speaking anymore.

I’m getting better every time I stand up in front of a crowd now.

That event gave me the courage to speak at both my brothers, Mums and Dads funerals.

It’s weird where we choose to place our fear.

And it’s incredible the growth we can experience when we say yes and get out of our comfort zones.

What’s your fear?

What’s holding you back?
