I've worked for myself on and off for about 20 years. It wasn't until the last 7 years or so that I really started making money and getting the clients I loved working with.
I didn't change much other than my mindset.
I pivoted from what do I need to do to get more clients to: "How can I serve my clients better".
I stopped thinking about how I could attract more clients.
That's all the experts were telling me to do - set up this and make that so that people will see you.
I hated being in the limelight.
I just wanted to work.
I didn't sign up to be a marketer and a public spokesperson!
I started to think about what my client really needed - what would solve their biggest problem and how I could do that.
I simplified.
I reset my business model and decided to drop some of my services and expand on the ones that my clients got the most results out of.
I felt really good about what I was offering.
I reduced my prices and gave so much more than they paid for.
After a while I could see the amazing benefits they were getting and I knew my methods worked.
It takes time to fall in grace with what you offer.
It's easier to start simple and then refine.
It's easier to offer your services for less and give more, because you'll grow in confidence.
When you reach the level of having too many clients and not enough time you can tweak your services into tailored packages and charge more.
Those people that want to work with you will pay.
When it clicks and the formula is right your business will feel effortless.
You'll pinch yourself everyday.
I know I do.
